COMMENTS:
No. It's simply discrimination. Reverse discrimination would imply that discrimination is naturally whites picking on minorities, when this isn't the case.
^ the exact opposite of what he said.
Affirmative action has played a big role in the access of minorities to equal treatment under the law. However, when the cure begins to resemble the disease, it's time to change things, and we are. I think affirmative action needs to remain as a tool to attack cases of clear discrimination (all races), but it needs to be used judiciously.
Mobs Sorry, but you are the exact opposite of right in this case.
non-whites have never been discriminated against. Never ever ever!

Even though I do tend to bat from the left side of the plate, I do believe that in many cases affirmative action has become discrimination against the majority. I mean, there's no denying that it's choosing people for jobs and such because of their skin color, which I thought was something this society wanted to get rid of, but apparently not. Not that I think the reasons behind it are that bad or anything, I just feel that as a white man, in some cases I'm being blamed for the actions of certain people of the same race as me long ago.
Outside of white gentiles, how many "races" of mankind dwell on apeasement to differing races? This is so much the case that whites have implemented systemic racism apon themselves in the form of "affirmative action" (nice sugar coated misnomer...eh?) and even when questioning it's validity go to the extent of labelling it "reverse" discrimination. This group guilt mindset among whites borderlines on neuroticism imho.I never discriminated against anybody, don't know anybody who ever did either for that matter. There were whites responasble for slavery in the US but so weren't Jews,Arabs and blacks themselves. Why this massive guilt trip?
The idea of affirmitive action had its' merits, but it has been misused to the point that it is discrimative in itself.
All of the white conservatives who benefited from racism and discrimination, and actively discriminated themselves suddenly became civil rights advocates when affirmative action came along. Every time a non-white person gets his/her due, the racist neo-cons are going to start howling for the "good old days" of white supremacy.
'Mobs Sorry, but you are the exact opposite of right in this case.' Well, at least he's consistent.
It's just discrimination. AA and its supporters are racists. Reverse discrimination = favoritism.
I am Caucasian female who wanted to buy a piano (not a cheap purchase!). The store I went to was not crowded. I noticed a nicely-dressed Black man, carrying a briefcase, looking at a piano. A few minutes later, in came a "little family", who were immediately approached by two salesmen. After a few more minutes, I walked over to the Black man and asked if he worked there. No, he was a shopper, same as I. Now, did discrimination come into play here? We both walked out.
^Of coursr it did. Good move, Observer.
Technically, it probably is. And if all the people who bitched about it bent their energies into finding a better way to address the problems, rather than finding ways to rationalize the status quo, we could move on constructively.
Voted : Yes
Of course it is. It is not the best person for the job, its who fits the quota.
