It was never a single country until the Brits came along so why should we expect it to remain so?

America will strive to keep it one country. But they didn't manage it in yugoslavia (thats right, you heard right). If you destroy the infrastructure of a union it wont stay united for long. Each blaming the other for their lack of prosperity.
What time period are we talking about? Next year, next 5 years, our life time?
CI: I was thinking 'the foreseeable future' ... i.e., +/- 5 years from the time US troops 'pull out' (or concentrate on permanent bases) or from the time W 'declares victory' enough to actually decrease and concentrate the numbers within Iraq on permanent bases.
Next year I don't see any change, in my lifetime it's every possible (but so is Canada's breakup). 5 + years I haven't the slightest idea how the Democrats will deal with Iraq. Not sure if they are either I might add.
civil war will happen im sure

THe way things look now, looked at the beginning of this exercise in futility, the best idea would've been to carve the turkey up ab initio.
Most likely. The Iraqi military gets stronger every month, the latest intel shows that the terrorists are hurting, and even most democrats couldn't bring themselves to abandon iraq to the jihadis in the latest vote.
maybe its best that it does break up.
