COMMENTS:
Who is Stephen Colbert?
Are you from Britain? Or somewhere else? Anyways, do you know who Jon Stewart is? Colbert was a correspondent on the Daily Show {Jon Stewarts} and now he has his own show on comedy central
He is fucking hilarious, and yes, he's conservative by nature but I think he plays himself off as even more conservative than he really is to get laughs, and he does it so well. His comment about blacks and whites is so damn funny, he was interviewing a black congresswoman from Washington DC, and said "I'm color blind, I don't see things in black or white" and she replied "Well, I'm black" and he said "Once again, I don't notice those things, I see you as a human" Ah, it's not as funny here but she got so f'ing pissed at him, it was as though she thought he SHOULD notice race, which is wrong, you would have to watch the show to understand it, but I think he's probably the funniest guy on television right now.
Conservative compared to Daily Show standards (he did grow up in South Carolina), but not and extreme conservative....good to see bible beaters can stil have a sense of humor!
I just hope no one watches him and thinks he's being serious, it's tongue in cheek. I like how he got that young Florida senator to say "I smoke pot because it's great" or something like that, because he asked the question "Fill in the blank here, 'I enjoy smoking pot because:___" The senator was running unopposed in the november election so Colbert told him to say whatever he wanted, anything that would normally cause him to lose the election if he had someone running against him. I've only recently gotten into watching, in the last couple of weeks.
I like when he talks about being from South Carolina, he gets points for that.

NO WAY! He parodies the conservative view. Do a Google search on his speech at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on April 29 of this year. Here's an excerpt (he was talking about Bush): "I stand by this man. I stand by this man because he stands for things. Not only for things, he stands on things. Things like aircraft carriers and rubble and recently flooded city squares. And that sends a strong message, that no matter what happens to America, she will always rebound -- with the most powerfully staged photo ops in the world." Check out the whole speech. It was hilarious. Needless to say, Bush was not amused.

He was interviewed on NPR the week after that performance. For the record, he is a liberal.

but he plays one on TV. and does a damn good job of it. and his roast of Bush was hysterically funny!
I am from the UK, so did a bit of research and checked out the thing with Bush on YouTube, funny guy.
the character? fuck yes the real person? the whole joke of the colbert report is that he PRETENDS to be a far right wing lunatic, while making fun of his own position. like an inverted ken_from_dublin
He clowned George, right in front of him too. I was surprised they let that happen, Bush's circle's usually so tight :p

Voted : don't care, he is funny
But I seriously doubt he really is, given how much fun he makes of conservatives by pretending to be one and intentionally sounding stupid.
To the conservatives who need to believe Colbert is one of you, because of the CHARACTER he has created for television...you're the people he's making fun of. :)
Voted : don't care, he is funny
Hey America... Nice ass!
Voted : No
It's a parody. He's making fun of conservatism, I'm told...just like Jon Stewart pretends to be liberal. I would imagine they're both middle-of-the-road.
Voted : Yes
I'd say he is, I don't think he would make fun of democrats like that if he was.
Wait, didn't he go to some dinner party in support of Bush?
^^ Yep. He ripped the Bush administration a new asshole. Notice he wasn't invited back?
