Voted : The israel-hezbollah conflict is a far greater human rights disaster
Sudan as horrible as the situation is really only effects the people in that immidate area and therefore I would say the conflict in the M.E is a greater concern. If the conflict turns into a regional war then the U.S and other world powers might have to directly get involved.
No. It is just that the Jews are defending themselves. Also in the sudan the people doing the killing are Muslims so that means that the left, being "culturally sensitive", can't say anything about it.
I've always wondered why conflicts like the Iran - Iraq war got little coverage when thousands were being slaughtered, chemical weapons were being used and civilian targets were certainly being hit. With at least 400,000 dead in Sudan I have wondered why this isn't bigger news. Obviously, if the conflict in middle east expands it will be bigger news.

Just because it isn't bigger news here doesn't mean others haven't been speaking out for quite some time.
Well, you are probably all sick of my ballots on the Sudan genocide.
Life is sacred, no matter where it lives.

The UN is pretty ineffective in preventing wars, but when they stick to what they are good at, like providing emergency services and aid, they are quite good.
Cath: you're not going to pretend that the UN gives Sudan the proper amount of attention are you? Get real.
Voted : The sudan genocide
Good point.
Over 3 million people have died in the Congo in the last decade. How often does that make the news. Why the Middle East gets so much world attention I'll never know.
One isn't connected to the other, but creating this fiction gives the ballotmaker another strawman ballot through which to work out his hate-driven obsession with the United Nations.
Voted : The sudan genocide
I think the Darfur genocide, and whole of other ethnic conflicts in Africa. There are many more conflicts than just Darfur that beg more attention from the UN than the Darfur crisis. The UN shouts and screams more about Israel-Hezbollah because... well... there is more of an outcry from more of its member-states to this crisis than others. Why? Well, for Muslim countries, there is a sense that they are collectively being oppressed (which isn't true, but the perception is being used nonetheless).
cranky - Oh, indeed there is a tie between the two. The UN is to address both. So far the UN seems to have been more active about this conflict than the one in Darfur.
