In St. Louis, the Roosevelt High School is filled with rumors of being built on top of an old cemetery. Some believe that the headstones were removed and the bodies remained under the ground. To date, bones once surfaced to the top of the football field, and one of the graves collapsed on the front lawn, which had to be immediately filled in.

Voted : Ramona Convent Secondary School ~ Alhambra, California Over the 110 years of this school's existence, there have been many reports of strange encounters. One of the entities most often reported is a "white nun" who has been seen on several occasions serenly floating through the school library. Students have also, on many occasions, reported hearing someone playing the piano--when no one else was in the building. And the spookiest report of all: shortly after a student tragically drowned in the school's swimming pool, stories started to circulate among the swimmers that they could feel someone underwater grabbing their legs. Many students now won't go in the pool.

Voted : Williamsburg High School ~ Williamsburg, Ohio Williamsburg High School is haunted by numerous ghosts. The county's last hanging tree was located where the library is. Three students jumped out of a third floor window. A janitor hung himself in the closet. A teacher shot herself on the third floor. Lights are seen moving through the school at night.

Voted : SFA State University ~ Nacogdoches, Texas This one's not too far away from me. A ghost called "Chester" is said to haunt the campus' old Fine Arts auditorium. Some say he's either an architect that died during the building's construction, or a former drama student. People have reported seeing his face in the curtains, unexplainable construction type sounds like hammers, and he was even spotted one time on stage during a play. If memory serves me right, I think there was a professor or an employee supposedly killed by him, though I can't remember any details.

Voted : Benton High School ~ St. Joseph, Missouri When attending Benton High School in St. Joseph, you will find quite a surprise when paying a visit to the third floor during the nighttime. If you try to walk down the hallway, which measures 200 feet, it is said that you will have books thrown at you. Some claim if you walk down the hall, yelling and screaming, lockers will start to open and you will start to hear the voices of people speaking across an intercom, which seems to be coming from the main office. The school is said to possess all of these weird occurrences because it was constructed on top of an old Native American burial site. Additional tales connected to the high school includes the ghost of a secretary that passed away and has been spotted walking into the office. Even as a ghost, she still wears the same perfume as she did in life.

Voted : Big Spring High School ~ Big Spring, Texas A ghost named Harold reportedly haunts the auditorium. It is said that he fell from the catwalk while hanging up the lights. There is even a strange footprint on the ceiling. When people paint over the footprint, it reappears. Witnesses have also claimed to see him walking around backstage with a flashlight.

Voted : University of the South ~ Sewanee, Tennessee The ghost of a headless student (dubbed the "Phantom Gownsman") roams the buildings on campus. Students who have been inducted into the Order of the Gownsmen wear dark robes as part of their academic attire and stories persist that the ghost is a member of the group who was decapitated in a car accident many years ago.

Voted : Ysleta High School ~ El Paso, Texas There seems to be a lot of ghosts in that school. A cheerleader in one of the restrooms committed suicide after her boyfriend broke up with her and every night she seems to appear in there. According to one of the teachers, she saw a little girl in front of her and all of the sudden disappeared. Students went there on Thursday July the 18, and four of the girls heard the horse of the horse rider around the stadium. Then they heard a girl screaming in the old gym. In the Auditorium there seems to appear a little boy that died when he fell of the stage. And there`s a janitor that appears there too.

Voted : Old Bellmore schoolhouse ruins ~ Bellmore, Indiana In the ground of the ruins of the school house there is an extreme change in temperature to very cold and in the boiler room you can hear the voice of a young boy screaming and sometimes playing. Legend has it he was killed down there and put in one of the furnaces and when people go down there rocks and bricks fly at you out of the dark. The only thing left of the school is the sidewalks, out houses and a part of the sign that tells the date of the school. There is now a mobile home on the property.

Voted : Binford elementary ~ Bloomington, Indiana A man wearing a black cloak is said to roam the Auditorium, when it's dark. There have also been some electrical problems. Binford Elementary is also haunted by a man that wears a black coat who was one of the schools former janitors. When the Elementary school was a Middle school, he was killed by three middle students in the janitor's closet. And still haunts the Elementary school today.

Voted : Wheelock Academy ~ Millerton, Oklahoma Initially built as a school for Choctaw Indians, Wheelock Academy, in Millerton, later served as a school for girls. Some of these girls, mistreated and murdered by their abusive instructors, are said to still haunt the grounds. The school’s administrators were reportedly very strict with their pupils, and abuse and beatings were common punishment for wrongdoing. For some students, the beatings proved fatal, and their bodies were secretly buried on school grounds.

Voted : Tse Ho Tso Middle School ~ Fort Defiance, Alabama The school gym is haunted by several children who had died in a fire. The girls locker room is a very active place, benches move ,lockers open and close violently, showers, faucets ,and toilets turn on and off. You can hear giggles, & voices.

Voted : Corner High School ~ Warrior, Alabama There was this old cemetery in the early 1800's, and workers tore the tombstones down and they built corner High School over the old cemetery, and at night if you look real close you spirits walking up and down the halls.

Voted : Cyprus high school ~ Magna, Utah The schools auditorium is haunted. The stage lights go on and off mysteriously and bats fly through the room during assembly's, upon inspection they cannot find the bats or anywhere for them to nest or hide. Also, there is a man dressed in clothes circa the 1930's. The school has burned down once and was rebuilt twice since it was constructed in 1910.

Voted : Harding University ~ Searcy, Arkansas A girl named Gertie haunts the old music building. Although the top window is painted black, it is said that she can still be seen there. Music from a piano has been heard when no one else is in the building.
