I know I'm going to offend some people with this, but what do you do? I always try to take myself out of the current situation or issue and see how I might handle it in a similar situation.

Pump him full of lead

Ask questions first, shoot later

Try to catch him, knowing that kids might get shot

Be PC and try to stop him by running faster

shoot with a disabling shot

Ask your state represent. to ban assault rifles ;)

Slap my forehead and say "D'oh!"

let him go in and thank him afterwards

I liek ceej's option best, depending on the specifics. If he/she isn't near the students yet, then disable the perpetrator. If they are in reasonable striking distance and appear to not be interested in surrender, shoot to kill.

Shoot at his arms that way he can't use the gun. If you shoot him in the leg he's still able to shoot the gun, right?

Yes banning assault rifles should work....it worked when we banned robbing banks and remember when we put that ban on stealing cars too.....criminals love to follow the letter of the law....isn't that what CRIMINAL means??? to obey the law???

Believe it or not that was my first choice but as soon as I saw people started bringing up 'ethical' ways of ending the scene I got into it.
