The Oslo Accords cast Israel in the role of the new economic and cultural force of the Middle East. It doesn't seem that worked out too well. The US talk alternatively of fighting the war on terror over in the Middle East so as not to fight it anywhere else or of bringing democracy by force to the region. Either way, that doesn't seem terribly successful either. And Hezbollah is emerging (in its own eyes) as the spokesperson of patriotism, charity and efficiency from a cycle of violence and destruction shared by all members of the equation. Of these three strategies, which do you think will be the most influential in creating the "new" Middle East?
