What has the Earth ever done for us? It regularly attempts to kill us with all sorts of natural disasters It provides all we need to live on it, many more people benifit from what it has to give than those who are killed by it's natural disasters. Try living on Mars and see how long you last.

It's pretty scary what we're doing. A few days ago a group of scientists estimated that in 40 years there will be no more viable commercial fishing. That along with the huge drag net operations that tear the ocean floor to shreds is pretty fuckud up if you ask me. Anyone for jellyfish and chips? Good ballot. um__yeah , I saw that too, I guess no fish for me in my old age.

Larry The Earth doesnt consciously "give" anything, thats a personification it isnt worthy of. Its a lump of rock with an atmosphere that life happened to develop on. And obviously I would die on Mars, what point does that prove? We didnt evolve to live on a planet with little/no atmosphere, and? I never said it consciously did anything, my description and ballot title were I thought obvious metaphors , the conditions on the earth are able to create and sustain life, and we humans IMO are removing those conditions. Unlike Mars, this planet does have conditions for life to survive, yes obviously you would die on Mars.

I wouldn't say we're removing the conditions that sustain life, not all life, but human life. After we're gone I'm sure that nature will set things straight and the cephalopods will crawl up from the oceans and take their rightful place as masters of the earth. Until then, I suggest we eat all the calamari we can. I can Not respect anyone who doesn't respect the Earth. I'm sorry but cockroaches in my basement are better forms of life than any human who doesn't care for our planet. These suggest it has some will or personality, ie. it makes a conscious decision to "provide" or "give" us stuff. All we need to live comes From Earth. We are animals who have only survived as long as we have because of how we've learned to use the Earth. This is difficult for most to fathom obviously. Lil_ape I meant Provide as in a house provides shelter a car provides transportation, I must really be coming across as a very stupid person if you think I'm saying the earth is making conscious decisions.

I mean I've eaten thousands of bananas in my time and I think it's the least I can do to make a few more to go some way to replacing what I've consumed. I wouldn't want my non-existent relatives, hundreds of thousands of years down the line to think I treated the earth like a whore. How do you make a banana? What are they made of?
