Garbage men clean up the streets,Public defenders throw the trash back into the streets So in essence, you are advocating the withdrawal of an accused to be defended in a court of law,. Its interesting that the people calling for the withdrawal of such a basic human right are the first to bleat about loss of freedom. Or is it just a case of only free, unless they disapprove of it.

The problem with this ballot, Reb, is that it presupposes that the folks I would defend are guilty. As an attorney, it would be my job in an adversarial system of justice to do all I could to prove my client innocent. Without that effort, any verdict would be essentially meaningless. However, I do think that in many of these cases, one would be better served by choosing to ride the trash truck.

steel, WHAT ARE YOU RANTING ABOUT??? Did I say get rid of defense lawyers?? No, No, No. I simply said I wouldnt want to be one. You need to work on your reading comprehension. I would like to point out that driving a trash cart or being a trashman is as noble a job as any other, someone has to do these jobs and without this service we would live in a very smell environment.

If i thought they were innocent id go all out to protect them. if not id screw the case so badly they would get life. Couldn`t do that from the back of a garbage truck. I read the question, and answered accordingly, it seems that as usual feel that by shouting the loudest, this will somehow make your point the correct one. For someone who calls themself a 'reb' you seem about as rebellious as broccoli. Now, please return toyou conservative masters for more orders.

If it is proven that he is a child molestor then no I wouldn't defend him. If he's being ACCUSED and there isn't any proof & the accuser is doing it for the money then I would defend that person. Its not for a lawyer to judge guilt, but a jury of 12 people and a judge, or what is the point of the rule of law?

I would rather be a lawyer. If it is only the choice of dirty manual labor and defending those, then I choose to uphold the Constitution. Steelhamster, a basic human right is access to council?

steel, How does saying I would rather be a garbage man than a criminal lawyer get twisted into "advocating the withdrawal of an accused to be defended in a court of law"? I dont know Reb, perhaps the phrase 'I think I would rather get rid of trash than defend it.'

And I'd wear a t-shirt to that effect. steel you know, if you weren't so arrogant, you might be easier to take. dude! climb the fuck down out of that ivory tower that you think you're in. the ballot question is not advocating the "withdrawl" of any such thing. man! you are thick!! he is saying that HE, would not. that he himslef. in no way did i interpret it any other way. are you really so insecure that you have to try and brow beat people with your supposed intelligence and doing so by twisting things? very sad man, very sad. so just line them up and shoot them right? just hope and pray that nobody accuse you of something you didn't do. The question should be better worded as defending a truly guilty child molester..not someone that simply accused (and didn't do it) and especially if the persecutor just wanted to make a name of himself in jailing an innocent person. But defending a truly guilty person is something I can't do...I would try to have him plea bargaining a sentence. Voted : Defend Trash In Court Only so I could do a really piss-poor job of it... Voted : Defend Trash In Court I would make a lot of money, and I could afford to build an secret underground torture chamber.
