Based on what I know of WWII (which is alot) The Germans were a much tougher opponent than the Japanese. The Waffen SS were some of the best fighters in the history of warfare. The Japanese tough, did terrible things to captured slodiers. Not to mention their kamikaze attacks? Which do you think was a tougher fight?

My paternal grandfather served in the Royal Marines in Europe, and he heard tales of battles in the Pacific Theater that curled his hair. In his opinion, the Pacific was by far the worst of the two, and I didn't argue the point with him. He lived it.
the germans had better technology but as warrior ferocity goes few have topped the killer japs.

my apologies to modern day Japanese...the japs refers to the warriors only, who were indeed heartless killers and diserve discredit for the suffering they inflicted.

Just compare the death and casualty rates. Much higher percentage of dead and wounded, on both sides, in the Pacific Theater.

Still, you'd have to consider the fight between the Germans and the Russians. Brutal stuff. So, I'd rate that conflict a close second, or maybe even first.

there is no doubt that the nazis where a much better fighting force than the japs.
thats why the allies concentrated most of their manpower to europe.
the japs may have done terrible things to captured soldiers but what did the germans do.gas chambers ring a bell.
truthseeker013...
how long have your family been living in america, you stated that your grandfather served in the royal marines in europe, but you are from america.
what regiment was he in and were did he serve

Obiously the germans. germany recruited 22,000,000 military during the war. Japan recruited 6,500,000. The Italians recruited 3,500,000 ill equpied soldiers.
The Europe was harder because Germany was a super power country and it had italy at the beginning.

The Japanese were far more brutal but the Germans killed way more people.
33,000,000 Deaths on the Eastern Front of Europe. 12,000,000 Genocide in Europe. 6,000,000 deaths in Western Europe.

15,000,000 deaths in China and East Asia. 5,000,000 deaths in the Pacific and japan.

50 in Europe and 20 in Asia. half a million in North africa
Imagine this. Only 15% of the total american cause went to the Japanese. Look how many countries it took to beat germany. Germany was one badass country. it took Russia, United States, the British Empire, and tons of other little countries and rebel organizations. Its a miracle that Germany lasted 6 years in any other country would fall with 2 weeks.
