Religious fundamentalist types ...

One argument I hear time and again against legalizing gay marriage is 'the Bible says marriage is only between a Man and a Woman.'

But ... I have checked and even used a concordance ... I can't find that stipulation *anywhere*.

Perhaps it is my lack of research skills. Help me out ... where, in the Bible, does it say 'Marriage is only between a Man and a Woman?'

The Bible makes no such statement
The Bible says "man should not lay with mankind as he lays with woman kind."
Jesus was homosexual
It says it in the neocons' minds, and that's all that matters.
it also says men can stone their wives to death for lots of reasons. do we do that?
Man and woman (only) is implied, however, man and sheep is not condemned, is it?
Sorry, I traded my Bible in for a lion.

The Bible speaks of a marriage between a woman and a man from the beginning to the end! Christ is seen as our Bridegroom and we are considered to be His wives. This is a spiritual connotation, not a literal view obviously. God made Adam and Eve. He never made 2 men or 2 women, otherwise how would we populate? Not only that, but it mentions that deacons should be the husband of 1 wife (1 Tim 3:12) and in various other places it states that He created a man and a woman for a union. (The 2 become one flesh.)
Other verses:
*Genesis 3:6 (Eve gave her husband the apple)
*Genesis 3:16 (Eve is put under Adam's authority for her sin, her husband)
*Deut 22-24 (speaks of betrothed wives and the penalties for adultry; breaking the covenant of marriage between a man and woman)
*Romans 7:2 (speaking about husbands and wives)
*1 Cor 7:2 (it says that each man should have a wife; lest they fall into sexual sin)

The Bible is filled with laws and rules for what the marriage should be like. There is never any mention of homosexuality as being 'good' or 'preferred' as a matter of fact, Sodom and Gomorrah was found (archaeology) and sulfur balls were recovered at the site! Thousands of years ago it was written about and it was found! We can see the remanat of the destruction. Yet, people still doubt.
And there is nothing recorded that states Jesus was gay! That's blasphemy! Jesus was God. He made us, therefore He cannot have sexual relations with women or men. He is unable to sin and He was free from all original sin. He is perfect and died for our sins, everyone that ever lived or will ever live!
The sad part is that there are people out there that choose to follow a gnostic or counterfeit gospel instead of the real Gospel of Jesus Christ! The Bible is full of prophecy and archaeological proof that was discovered in the last decade. Yet, we choose to believe in Dan Brown's book that is vrey ficticious and full of conspiracy theory.
Actually, this is not far from the time Jesus raised from the dead. Thomas doubted Him and as did others. Yet they were eyewitnesses!
I urge you to get an intelinear or other type of literal Bible. Some of the newer versions have omitted the original text.
Hope this helps!

finnis: Your citations refer to sex and/or deal with implication. I can find no explicit statement.
"^ Yeah, but the whole reason for getting married in Christian belief so that one can have sex.

So of course Christianity is against homosexual marriage as Corrupt and d_f pointed out. "

WHAT? that is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard.

No, Christians don't get married just so they can have sex.

"For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due."
—Romans 1:26-27 (NKJV)

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."
—1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV)
