In the next few days, Congress is expected to vote on whether to give final approval to the energy bill. Some of the worst provisions in this environmentally destructive legislation would let oil and gas companies use underwater explosions to explore for oil in previously off-limits coastal areas, allow industrial logging in old growth and roadless forests in the name of "energy production" and encourage oil drilling on public lands by weakening Clean Water Act protections. This energy bill is merely a wish list for the oil, gas and nuclear industry and doesn't address our nation's real energy needs.
