and it's looking more and more like they will, they'll still have to be processed by the INS, which means paperwork, background checks, etc. Now, it will all be meaningless of course and won't accomplish anything, but they'll have to go through the motions.

And 12 million mexicans, plus all the ones that scramble over here the moment any politician mentions an amnesty will create quite a backlog.

How this should be worked to avoid scrweing over those poor dumb bastards who tried to come here legally and are still waiting on paperwork?

They'll just get screwed more, tough, that'll teach 'em to follow the rules
The illegals will be put at the end, and effectively never become citizens
They'll mix the two lists together at random, or based on individual characteristics.
It won't work, it will be one huge mess

Hurricane: There is no way that you could round up 11 million people, spread across fify states, detain them, try them, and deport them. The logistics, the disruption, and the cost would be astronomical.

And on a side note, do you think it's fair that the legal immigrants in waiting will have their process disrupted to reward those who snuck in illegally? And no matter how it is worked, adding 12 million new names to the roster is going to disrupt things.

It will encourage more illegal immigrants.

The impression I get from the US from this is that crossing the border is wrong and there should be an effort to stop it, but if people are successful enough to do it successfully than they should be rewarded. Sounds like posing a challenge to Mexicans. 'We will do all we can to stop you from getting in... but if you do get in, then you win!'

It makes no sense. Why not just completely open up the border then rather than teasing them with such undeclared but obvious challenges? Either that or don't reward illegal immigrants and focus on giving citizenship to the legal ones.

Amnesty is so wrong. They need to come here legally. Round them up and deport them. Put it to an American vote.

Do you find it worrying that your government dont listen to what the majority of your citizens actually WANT? And in fact do whatever they like?

Yet so many Americans will still vote for them.

Thats not democracy, thats national stupidity.

Can we do something about those smelly Samoans?

Most Americans would vote to have them thrown out of the country.
