Sad. Very sad. My dad has a Stingray. I sure hope he's not targeted by people seeking revenge!

If he hadn't remove the stingray's barb, he would've survived long enough to reach proper medical attention... and be alive today. But, he stupidly pulled the barb out, and bled to death almost immediately. He had no significant bleeding until he pulled the barb out. That's what I'm thinking too, Tode1. Those things are serrated and when you pull them out, they rip flesh away. I think it was stupid too, but those things are so intensely painful that I can see where instinct would come first and would cause one to try and pull it out.

but tode1, under times of duress, people don't think properly. I dislike how people are attacking these animals. It didn't know what it was doing You're right aya under times of duress people don't think properly. But consider the profession that steve irwin was in. He and everyone else around him should have a basic knowledge of first aid, in fact they should know advanced first aid and how to react when certain situations present themselves, especially when you're in places far off the beaten track and help may not get to you for a while.
