I dont know about you, but I never see tall old people. This is quite worrying for me as I am 6 foot 5 inches tall. Do I have less chance of reaching my 100th birthday than a shorter person?

Yes, short people live longer than tall people

Some people shrink when they get old.

Who wants to live until they are blind, deaf, bald & wrinkly?
Voted : No, short people do not live longer than tall people
Yeah, what Nuckinfutz said.. People shrink when they get old. Besides, I don't see how short people live longer anyway. Most short people I know are pissed-off just because they're short.. always got a chip on their shoulder and always trying to prove they're as big as the next guy. All this anger about being short just adds to their health problems when they get old and then the next thing you know .. Boom, they're dead. Long live tall people!!
Okay, so let's see how many short people I just pissed-off!

Yeah, and short people look up to tall people

Unfortunately, there is some evidence that short (smaller) people do live longer. And it has been suggested that one of the reasons that women live longer than men is because they are, on average, smaller.

Ever notice that the life spans of the various breeds of dogs is longer in squirty little dogs, like Pekinese and Toy Poodles, who often live to 16 years? Larger breeds, like Labradors, German Shepherds, and Golden Retrievers tend to live 10-12 years.

Maybe in larger people the heart has to work harder to circulate blood to all of the extremeties and the heart just wears out a bit faster in larger people because of this. As it does, there could be heart failure or other organ failure from lack of oxygenated blood and stuff. Just a guess.

...I stand 6ft and close to 5 inches tall, I am making my funeral arrangements as I type this knowing I am on barrowing time

I've seen some tall old people, but I think shorter people live longer. The hearts of shorter people do not have to work as hard as those of taller people. So, it makes sense that the taller hearts would wear out sooner.

Does that mean that men with bigger, uh, ... well, never mind.

Because tallness is made so much of, it is not seen as the handicap it can be. Exceptionally tall people have a lot of body problems; Lurch's body (the actor on the Addam's Family) literally caved in upon itself and he died young. Also, I would imagine it is cheaper to feed and clothe a very tiny body, and there are more support groups and communities for small people. Small men may be unhappier, but small WOMEN are, as a whole, happier than tall women because most guys (to my experience) like petite ones more. Mostly little men go for big gals and big men go for petit ones. Big guys with small gals are the natural order--I think that is why these two groups are happiest. My boyfriend is quite tall and, even though is young, very strong, and in good health, he is experiencing hip pain that his doctor says is related to the weight from his height. The only people I have ever heard complain about height are very tall women who say things to try to make petite women feel bad.

lol no i don't think height has anything to do with it, just eat healthy. I think tall people are usually unhealthy or cars don't miss them as easily but they don't have as far to fall ;)

It's all about eating healthy and being active.

What luck! I'm left-handed and above average in height. Lefties supposedly live on average 9 years less than righties. Please excuse me while I start deciding when to plan my funeral.
In a 4ft room with a bunch of sharp fast rotating fans on the ceiling? Sure.
