Using the full word "country" seems a bit long. You wouldn't tell a Rock fan "you rock and roll". I'd say you should shorten the word "country" to just the first syllable. In fact, I once complimented someone in just this way. Unfortunately, they havn't spoken to me since (some people just can't take a compliment).
