ALEX RODRIGUEZ ADMITS TO STEROID USE

[+] serious ballot by Stinky_Fartz
ACTIVE Mon Feb 09, 09 - Tue Feb 09, 10

It's just hitting the wires. He's admitted to ESPN that he used 'roids from 2001 to 2003. What should be his punishment?

Kick him out of baseball
Bar him from the Hall of Fame
Take away all awards
Nothing.
Being that I am not without sin, I will not be the decider...

^ Agreed. I think those who love the sport, pay for tickets, play it, and have never participated in cheating in it have every right to judge. It's what keeps the ethics of the game in line.

I have no sympathy for these liars.

I've added "take away all awards" since he won an MVP award while on steroids.

I really think that he, or anyone else who cheats, should be thrown out of the game. I'm a real asshole when it comes to this sort of thing. I don't want to have our kids think that cheating is the way to get ahead.

They weren't illegal at the time of his positive test, and he's tested clean in the 5 years since then. I don't think he should, and he probably will not, suffer any negative repercussions other than having to deal with the "asterisk" talk should he break Bonds' record. That is my limited understanding of the situation.

Just as for one Barry L Bonds...

..and bar him from the Hall of Fame.

Funny how the old greats used to run off of beer and cigarettes, and the new ones need steroids to break their records.

The Players Association created the Two Headed Monster by backing up the roid players and not sticking up for the 'pure' player. And when the 'natural' guys saw the pay-day that the 'roid' guys were getting. And with NO TESTING being done, I'm sure almost ALL players tried some form of the drug.

Now I know that, although it was not tested for back then, that did not make it legal. It still was an illegal drug to use without being prescribed by a Doctor.

But the juice has been around for a very long time. If you think that it was just something tried in the '80's your wrong. I bet that roids have been around since the '60's. The just started getting better in the '80's.

I can't believe A-rod did this. At least he fessed up. It was a long time ago so if he's not using now I think that should be considered.

Many Americans are so high and mighty when they aren't in the hot seat...

It is so easy to point the finger at someone else and say, "off with his/her head!"

It is so good to know that those who would judge and criticize AR so harshly have never, ever, never, never, ever made a mistake, lied, cheated and anything else that would be deemed awful in the eyes of others.

The man stepped up to the plate and admitted he used juice to have the advantage over his peers, he will labeled a cheater for the rest of his life and that will not be enough for some people...

I forgive AR because who am I to decide or suggest what punishment he should receive if any...

The man will never live this incident down, ever, because the so call people who is judging him harshly (you know the ones who never committed one small mistake and are the first to judge others who have, yeah, those fine up standing people)will see to it...

You know, I am so glad that finally Barry Bonds and Michael Phelps is getting a breather from the pointing fingers that were once in their faces by the holier than thou group...

AR should keep his head up and do what he think is best for himself and his family and the hell with everyone else...No, I don't agree with what he did, however, I will not join the hypocrite parade in attacking him either...Good luck to AR and any other human being who dare to make a mistake, whether it was a true mistake or for selfish reasons...

BBC, ab initio, great to see your voice!

And I wish I could be as forgiving as you are toward Pay-'Roid.

I LOVE BASEBALL.

In my heart, I believe that I was *born* to play the sport. Growing up, I was fumble-handed at every sports activity I tried, but baseball came to me as naturally as breathing.

This man SULLIED the sport. Sadly, he's just the one sitting in the spotlight at the moment, and there are more doing the same, or looking for the next edge up. Babe Ruth hit 714 on beer and cigarettes, as Grumpy_Person said. Hank Aaron hit 755, and never hit more than 40 homers ina season. He did through something that's lost on this generation.

HARD WORK.

If a player feels as though he can't make the grade anymore, then have some dignity for the sport and STEP ASIDE.

it's not about forgiveness, etc.

he is almost a BILLIONAIRE playing a game. a game with rules. rules that we expect the players to abide by.

if not, why don't we allow hydraulic rams for arms and rocket powered skateboard for running bases?

He sought unfair advantage over others by cheating. Then was caught in a bold faced lie.

he should not further be rewarded.
