These days, the Libertarian party strikes me as much more Mainstream than today's republican Party. Most people really like the LP's ideas when they actually hear them. We just need to get the message out there. I would prefer it if the Libertarians replaced the Democrats. Agree with MrTroche. A mainstream libertarian party would do a lot of good for this country. Is anybody else going to follow the presidential debates today in the Miami area? Michael Badnarik of the Libertarian party and David Cobb of the Green party will coverd on the web by Pacifica dot org and freemarketnews dot com. I understand there's going to be some kind of circus across the street later tonight with Herman Munster and Alfred E. Newman. They'll probably bitch more about what the other one did in the '60s.

I would like to see more than two major parties. If one just replaces the other, it will probably become more corrupted and end up just being a name change.

Eventually, but for a while they'll maintain some of the idealism that got them into power. I don't expect that turning the libertarians into a major party will solve all our problems forever. It's at best a temporary fix, but that's still better than what we have now. Are you SERIOUS? The frickin' Libertarians want to outlaw seat belts and motorcycle helmets! That's just PSYCHOTIC! I'd sooner vote for NADER!

No they don't. Where'd you hear that? truthseeker They want to give people the right not to wear them but still support their use. Libertarians don't want to outlaw many things at all. yeah, ts, I luv ya but I don't think you've really understood the LP agenda. herzog, all I really meant was that if the Republicans were replaced by the Libertarians, then they would certainly join the LP and corrupt it with some of their not so cohesive methods. I don't want that.

There really aren't that many librarians, and they are mostly over 60 and wear support hose. Besides "shush" isn't really an effective party platform.

I don't know if we Libertarians should "replace" the Republicans or not, but we should be a viable third party, that could keep both the Dems and the Repubs from going too far over the line, on either side of the political spectrum. It might keep them more honest. Voted : No, Democrats and Libertarians agree on most things. I'm a libertarian who votes straight Democratic. Except for taxation, Democrats and Libertarians agree on everything, and commonly oppose the Republicans (pro-war, pro-bigotry, pro-religion, pro-censorship, anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-abortion...) on everything. Libertarians should just wise up and realize that Republicans are the anti-freedom, anti-liberty party.
