ALEX SANCHEZ WAS SUSPENDED FOR STEROID USE. THIS BEGS THE QUESTION, WHY WOULD ALEX SANCHEZ TAKE STEROIDS?

Alex Sanchez is a speedster. He's a leadoff hitter and center fielder. There's no reason for him to bulk up -- his forte is speed. The most home runs he ever hit was last season (steroids?), when he doubled his career total of 2.

He wanted to, one day, hit 5 homers in a season.
He's Alex Sanchez, he's kind of an idiot anyway.

Steroids have been used widely throughout baseball, not just for power hitting which everyone seems to be concentrating on. Some people use anabolic steroids to increase endurance and speed.

Steroids help speed too, see "Ben Johnson"
I think the guy is an idiot though, all the news going around about this stuff and people still do it, guess people arent scared of a 10 day suspension.

If this insults baseball fans, my apologies in advance. In my humble opinion, the Commissioner and all his little minions are frelling brain-dead morons. They've been screwing up baseball for the last ten years, and this "steriods policy" is just their latest grab at the gold ring. When I first saw that little blurb on SportsCenter, my jaw stared bouncing on the carpet. Alex Sanchez has NEVER been a power hitter, so WHY would he even WANT to touch the juice. Now, given the leaked grand-jury testimony that we've all been soaking in the last few months, the FIRST names I'd expect on the chopping block? Oh, Giambi, Sheffield, Bonds for a few. But the first two enjoy the protection of being Citizens of the Empire that Ruth Built, and the latter is too close to being God in the eyes of a generation to be touchable. Yet again, baseball blows it.
