WHAT IS WORSE, BEING IN DENIAL

or believing everything goverment says?

I see so often on this site, people either refusing to believe what goverments have to say, and others who believe just about everything

I do not think all the goverment says is true, but I do not think all they say is a lie either.

But there seems to be little center ground,
it's either , goverment is lying about everything or all they say is true.
Either al qaeda exist, or it's all made up to cause fear.

We have Fox news saying goverment always tells the truth, or cbs news saying all is a lie.

What are we suppose to do?

don't know
It is somewhere in between the two

I've tried to get at this in other ballots. It seems that often people will believe things without checking all the facts. I think it is often because it fits their preconceived ideas.

My question for you, Larry, is how do YOU know when you are being lied to by the government? I mean do you have some special truth discernment machine or ability that lets you know this? And if you can't discern the truth or falsehoods issued by the government, how do we know where this "center" is that you say we need to find?

It seems to me that "truth" in American politics is pretty elusive. What most of us end up doing is, like you, believing the truth is what we agree with. Are we right or wrong in this? No way to untangle it, really. So, as the saying goes, "you pays your money and you takes your chances." My bet is on the government generally misrepresenting any fact which does not benefit their masters and benefactors, the super wealthy and Big Business.

Certainly might be wrong, but there it is. And, incidentially, if you do have a truth machine, please make me a copy so I can "know the truth" whenever the government tries to lie to me. :)

Enjoyed your question.

And which "facts," Fiddle? These are tricky things nowadays. Can't really get one's arms around it.

More to your point, aren't "pre-conceived ideas" just a collection of assumptions we have formed from digesting government propaganda?

Don't know. Think so. Thought-provoking comment. Thanks.
