Depends on who's doing the ignoring/insulting, but in the former it's best to just accept it and move on; the latter just to laugh... eventually. I prefer not to ignore or insult anyone, but life isn't perfect, and neither am I. :)

I would rather that they either make some kind of excuse or just tell me the truth. The worst thing is to be left wondering without any response at all.

Mark my ballot, insulted. Can't imagine anyone opting for ignored over insulted. Much rather be ignored than to have to deal with someone's spleen.

I hate to be ignored and if I am, I'll say and do things until the person finally stops ignoring and insults me.

It all depends on/if which one is the ignorant one...
...The sender or the receiver.
If it’s the sender, it’s should be no big deal. You just say to yourself, look at the source.
If it’s the receiver, they probably say to themselves, what did I do?
