I just moved to Va and they dont pronounce the 'r' here, especially if it comes at the end of a word. naw-fuk is how they say it here (south-central). I'm from Tn. and I say nor-foke, no 'l'. Nor-fook. Its a london ting :) forgot that one (Nor-foke), which is pretty sad, cuz that's how I usually say it. Used to say Nor-folk when I first moved here, but after living here 22 years, I occasionally slip int Nor-fuk. Just can't get the hang of Naw-fuk though.

the right way! In Mass we pronounce it somewhere between nor fook(like book)and nor fuk.The folk part kinda trails off in volume/enunciation which is typical of the Mass/New England accents. I don't know how the pro-nounce it in Virginy.

Usually Nor-folk or Nor-fuk. Most of the sailors there pronounce in NOFUCK because hookers are hard to find there.
