Yes, but summer holidays here in the UK are just over 1 month, wile they go on for 3 or 4 times as long in america.

correct me if im wrong, and how long is the average american school day?
I'll gladly correct you. Summer vacation in America is 6 weeks. From mid June to late August. Hours are from 7am to around 2pm unless you take advanced classes and have an extra one included in your day. Why? That's not even the point
sorry, my bad, the point is that we mite compact 13 years of education into 10 years via shorter brakes and longer hourse, or simply better teeching.
Doubtful
Whereas nobody disputes the fact that at the top level of education in America there are many extremely bright and capable people who go on to make great contributions towards making the world more sedentary, fat filled and dangerous place to live, you must also explain why your average Yankeedoodle thinks that Jay Leno is a comedian and 50 cent is a musician.
Oh and here's a quick one for those whose arteries are still capable of transporting few milligrammes of oxygenated blood..."If you have unrestricted immigration from Countries where education beyond the age of puberty is optional, do you think the average American IQ will increase?

Anyway, in england, if you go to college straight after school then the first 2 years are free, even if the quality is the same, you probably dont need those 3 years you americans get in order to do a job most people who dont go onto college end up doing (no offence, some people who dont go to college end up in great jobs, but they usualy have raw ambition that you cant teech people anyway).
Europe isn't a country you dumbsh1t!
Shhhhhhhh...dont give the game away
You have to excuse Dingleberry, Shitstreek. He's a result of the American education system so his knowledge of geography isn't that great.

Show me where I said Europe is a country dickweed. Hahaa!
"WHAT COUNTRY HAS THE BEST EDUCATION SYSTEM?" then u listed USA, canada and europe
I stand corrected.
Check out your poll: Has any Americans seen Europe?
I have, half o u have, there the ones that dont post hate polsl probably, i no you just try n get on our nervs as a sorta hobby ding
I'm behind a computer 12 hours a day. It's easy for me to get bored. Believe me, I post many hate polls but get little support from other Americans.
Dingleberry, 93% of Americans don't even have a passports so there is no way Americans could have any kind of understanding about Europe or any other countries.
by SAS [+]

But you know all about American schools right? Fucking hipocrit! I'm starting to think that you hand out pass ports for a living being that you posted the same statistic in other polls. Go to an American school and learn something. Wait. Nevermind, don't
Not that people who give out pass ports are bad but..you know
Europe is a satellite from Jupiter, isn't it ?

Yes, we come in piece
He means peace
In fact, if I had the money, I'd probably register to conntinue my studies in the USA, in a famous university like Harvard or Stanford. A lot of money, because if not, I'm quite sure they would reject my candidature.

Maybe that's why I think I prefer the French system, it allows almost every students, whether they are rich or not, to access a high grade.

It's less "buzz", but it's more equitable.
by pRn [+]

PRN, having the money to pay for Harvard or Stanford doesn't mean your stupid ass would get in. Ever hear of the SAT's? If your grades suck which yours probably does, say goodbye
I didn't know SAT, thank you for the information.

Oh, and for my grade, I agree it may not be enough, although it's still quite correct.
by pRn [+]

I said I stood corrected by Lazy n Crazy but fuck the both of you anyway!
Cuba has a much better child literacy figure than America.

"Is our children learning?"

No George, you murderer.

None of the above, Japan is in the top 5 nations in math and science.
I said of those choices you fucking chink!
"I said of those choices you fucking chink!"

Actually, you never said that. You asked what country has the best education system.
by SAS [+]

Thanks numbnuts
Now why don't you answere the fucking question?
You mean the question "what country has the best education system"? Frankly, I don't know. But what I do know, is that USA isn't the country.
by SAS [+]

I guess the result is clear then...yea right
America isn't a country, you buffoon.
If our schools in the US are a mess, it is partly because parents have largely abdicated the responsibility for rearing their child to the public school system, while they run off in the pursuit of ever-more material goods.
America isn't a country, you buffoon.
by Atomic_Mutant on Jan 13, 2004

Really? What is it then jackass?

Actually, Dingledear, America is a continent, hence South America, North America. That is why it is called the United States OF America.
America is a fucking country you halfwit! I could care less what you think it is. I know Europe isn't a country in itself as I established that in past comments. Dumbshit!
Europeans only "think" they are educated.
SAS - you seem to know alot about the US - have you been here? If not, what is the basis for your extremely negative opinions?
I attended US schools and was very happy with the education. However, since I did not attend any schools outside of the US, I can’t comment on other country’s system with the exception of Canada. I have worked with several graduates of Canadian universities (McGill and Laval) who were all very bright.

I will say that over 75% of the students in my graduate level IT courses were from foreign countries. So that is a positive indicator of the US system.

"SAS - you seem to know alot about the US - have you been here? If not, what is the basis for your extremely negative opinions?"

Yes, I been to USA. Americans are generally speaking very ignorant, although there are some notable exclusions.
by SAS [+]

JAPAN, TAIWAN, SINGAPORE, SOUTH KOREA, SWITZERLAND, GERMANY, AUSTRIA - these countries have the best educational systems, as proven repeatedly by international test scores.
Germany? Who told you that lie? In Germany you can graduate after 10th grade without haveing to cram.
Which school in America did you go to? Just curious
I learned baby seal bashing before second grade in a canadeeunn skool... top that you stuipid amerkan pigs, nyah nyah nyah, cant get me the skacshatoonian indian princess
Is there really a sure fire way to find out which country has the best education system? All I know is it is not Australia. Here you only need 50% to pass, most kids only go to 10th or 11th grade, and less than half go to college or univeristy. That is at least up here where I live at. I have asked other people from other parts of the country and they have all said that you only need 50% to graduate. If you had that in the US no one would drop out of high school. Why does it always seem like English people think that they are more intellectualy superior to everyone else? But I know not all European or English people feel that way. I have been fortunate enough to meet nice people from all over the world. If the US education system is so bad then tell me why so many people from other countries choose to go there for that reason? The US by far has nore immigrants than any other country. That has to have some kind of effect on the education system. If you look at a list ranking the top Universities in the world compiled by the Institute of Higher Education, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, you will see that over 50% of the top 100 universities are in the USA.
You forgot Japan and Korea. But after Japan and Korea, I would select Canada in 3rd. World Place. The U.S. ranks 15th to 17th depending on who does the study.
the best think ever to come out of america was Clinton

Hillary Clinton?
