I was just sending a message tonight and this struck me as odd.

Most religious people share a lineage.
As in someone who was there.

The jews have God himself so the lineage there is obvious. But for the sake of form the sons of Abraham.

The catholics have the pope who was chosen to start the catholic church and was mentioned in the bible.

This would be pope linus who was mentioned on a different ballot earlier today. and his succesor pope anacletus. (cletus :-))

Islam refutes the teachings of jews and christianity as a twisting of the facts and ascribes no man the status of anything other than being a man. An almost exemplory man but a man nonetheless. So these become prophets they accept jesus as well as noah. but they are all still men. mohammed wasn't seen as the creator of a new religion, but as the restorer of the original, uncorrupted monotheistic faith of Adam, Abraham and others. so they have lineage.

Now a little history trip.

England 28th June 1491

A baby is born that will change the religious practices of england forever.

At this time in history the abrahamic world was divided 3 ways. christianity via rome, judaism via abraham and islam by mohammed.

Islam had already split in 2 at this point in time. they still believe in pretty much the same thing though it's just an argument on semantics really. (allah forgive me for that cop out:-D)

Into this comes a catholic child who will be King of England at 18. A king that will set in motion events that will cut england off from the rest of europe and the catholic faith. A time of prosperity and growth.

Out of this will emerge a powerful (albiet distinctive) Nation

Fast forward a few years to the founding fathers.

You have a country trying to establish itself on principles most americans are aware of anyway.

In england politics have replaced religion. faith is on the decline and the church is diminishing.

In america for some reason religion is a wave that keeps sweeping over.

Now this is the bit I dont undertand.

Given most americans associate themselves with their mainly British heritage. Why is Christianity anything to do with you?

We gave it up years ago. Why did you pick it back up again and who do you see as your lineage. Saying jesus isnt good enough. everyone else has at least an historical connection. even mexicans have the pope to a degree. If you claim to be a christian then you must also accept the pope as the human representation of all things to do with the church. It's in the bible.

If you don't accept that then you dont accept the bible.

So unless your catholic, islamic or jewish you have no direct connection to god or any of his prophets. How do You reconcile this? Peter was a disciple of jesus. He formed the church of rome. You can't refute this and be a christian.

Help me out here guys coz I think you just believe you can interpret the bible anyway you want. You act like you are the arbiters of goodness and morality. You act as though atheism is some kind of depressive illness. Yet you have no connection to what you choose to believe.

Nothing.....

How can you believe in something that has no direct connection to you?

In fact if jesus did come back right now there are 3 scenarios. Islam would be shocked to see him as he's dead. the jews would be a bit shocked too. The catholics would be overjoyed and everyone else wouldn't get a look in. I think jesus would be more concerned about the church his disciple set up. He would view what happened in britain and the subsequent "religionUlike" that happened in america and would probably turn his back on you for not accepting the word of his chosen follower.

So come on explain what jesus has to do with you? You have no official church. You rejected gods chosen disciple. Help me here......
