advice : ethics : WHY DO PEOPLE ASK HOW I AM IF THEY CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH?

I said hello to one of my co-workers today and she said, 'Hi, how are you?'

So I told her I'm worried I may be becoming mentally unstable from all the pressure of life. I want a woman in my life but they all act uninterested. I'm not going to fake like I'm Mr. Charming when I'm just a simple guy who just wants a nice girl to be with, but yet they all act like I'm not worthy.

Plus, with the government raising taxes that's less net pay for me to take home which makes it harder to maintain my lifestyle, the public bus is suspending transportation to my job which means having to buy a car which is another expense, plus I haven't driven in a long time so I'm terrified to get back on the road.

I have a student loan that was demanding huge payments each month that I couldn't handle, yet the a-holes claimed I made too much for a deferment, they forced me into default and now my wages are going to get garnished and I won't get any tax refunds.

I'm fat and I hate my belly. I have a workout plan which consist of eating right, yoga, cardio and resistance training, but as soon as I get home I'm too lazy to workout so I sit on the internet all night surfing the web and just getting fatter. And some nights I satisfy myself to rated X adult videos online and I end up staying up too late and being extremely tired and cranky the next day because I have to get up early in the movie to go to work.

And I feel like most people at work don't respect me, they're all just egomaniacs and expect the world of me like I only exist to stroke their egos but when it comes to my needs nobody gives a damn. I feel so angry and frustrated with people, I'm sick and tired of it and for once I want someone to meet my expectations and say wonderful things about me instead of everyone always wanting me to do that for them.

So anyway, while I'm telling my co-worker all of this she keeps trying to step away like she's trying to leave but I'm not finished telling her how I'm doing. If she didn't want to know how I'm doing then why ask me in the first place? I'm not going to lie and say I'm doing well when I'm not. When I finally finished telling her how I was doing she quickly walked away like she couldn't wait to leave.

I think if you ask someone how they're doing you should honestly mean it and be prepared to listen to them, otherwise, just don't ask because I'm sure not going to be dishonest and say, 'Good' when I'm not.

What do you think? Isn't it dishonest to ask people this question if you don't sincerely care?
