bicycle versus a bus

entry #29. posted on 1:33pm May 07, 2008 - mood: amused

I had this happen to me more than once, but never such a close encounter.

I see a bicyclist in somewhat a tight 2 lane road. I try to give them wide berth, but it's impossible when driving a 8' wide bus.

so I usually get to a stop sign or the red light first, then I keep my eye on the bicyclist as they approach.

Sometimes when I start my move, the noise from the air brakes scares the hell out of them. My bus appears to have somewhat of a louder than usual air system, and I sympathize with someone standing right next to it when it gets going.

anyway I see this guy literally blown off the road on his bicycle into the ditch. I feel bad, but there's noway for me to stop. I stop about 3 miles at a fruit stand for lunch, then I see the guy pulling in with his pants full of muck.

He was looking at my bus, no doubt looking for someone to blame, and I was sitting about 50' away, eating my lunch, and I was keeping my eye on him, to make sure he doesn't do something nasty to my bus. he walks around the bus, then comes to where I am sitting.

He looks at me, and says "I had an accident". looking down at his pants.

I said "yeah, I saw that. sorry".

we both kinda laughed, and I pointed him toward the bathroom. poor guy

STAY AWAY FROM THE BUS!!!!
Ok that is funny since that sorta happened to me before. Well as long as he did not get hurt.
Maybe ya should get a sign?

When I lived in the big city we had tons of student drivers so of course they drive by our road. Well this one driver was driving on the side of the road and I'm biking and I see them ahead. I start backing up to go back to the corner I had just turned and instead I slip and fall into a ditch which was and still is known for having dead animals in it and raw sewage runoff.
My luck it was full and I got covered head to toe. Plus the water tasted funny.

democrats don't get it.

most people who are sick and tired of bush for the last 8 years don't want another ultra right democrat that you can't distinguish from the republicans. if you want to vote right wing, why not go all the way and vote McCain?

do you really want the wife of an ex-president in the white house? What's next, Chelsea in a few years?

I rather move to burma, at least there's no pretense about which regime is in charge.

Sieg Heil Hilary!

Creaking Bones

Oh man, I am getting old.

I went hiking for about 6 miles yesterday, and I wake up to backache, my knees almost giving out, swollen ankle, etc.

basically all the places that I was once injured decades ago, and thought I was completely healed.

is this what getting old feels like?
Where Dr. Kevorkian when I need him?

Have you considered yoga?
Yoga helps you gently stretch most of your muscles, and if you start slowly, it is mostly painless.

sung by someone.

originally by innocence project, but they don't have it readily available on youtube or mp3 file somewhere free and legal to download.

I wonder how long RIAA can hold on to their copyright monopoly. People sang for millions of years, and they never asked for royalties and copyright.

hopefully in the future, songs can be freely shared without worrying about money exchanging hands.

Depressed? Here is a good recipe...

entry #25. posted on 11:56pm Apr 22, 2008 - mood: happy

for an orange peel tea.

trust me, this will help you.

after a long day, take a short shower, then make your self a fresh squeezed orange juice with one of those juice presses. You can also just peel and eat an orange.

save the peel.

draw yourself a hot bath. dump the peel into the water, and crush the peel with your hands until it releases little droplets of fresh orange oil.

lean back, and relax. let the oil seep into your pores. Dunk your head into the water, the smell of the oil will remain with you for at least a day. it will open and cleanse your pores, improve circulation, and clear your head.

it helps with depression, better than any pills without the side effects. Try variation with Orange, tangerine, lemon, lime and other citrus peels.

have a happy life!

why do I waste my time

entry #22. posted on 9:56am Apr 10, 2008 - mood: happy

with bad apples?

I have to learn to accept that there are bad people in the world. No matter what you do, it will not change them. I should learn not to waste my precious time trying to accomodate them.

I recently joined a forum where they had a doozy of a user rules.

in part it reads :
"Members are expected to conduct themselves in a civilized manner. That means showing courtesy and respect to ALL other members, moderators, administrators, and staff.

Absolutely no personal attacks, bashes, flames, or bigotry comments.

Give and receive criticism with an open mind. You will be held responsible for your actions, so post wisely. If you can't handle posting wisely, don’t post.

There is no "Freedom of Speech" here.
If we don't want you to say the word "the", you have no right to say the word "the." This is a private website that we allow people to come and register for. If we decide you are no longer welcome, you're not. This is not a government site, the bill of rights doesn't really apply here just as it doesn't if you invite us into your home and we scream obscenities at your relatives. You have a right to make us leave, and we have a right to make you leave here.
"

all the things I should have said from day 1. oh well, live and learn.

I guess if that's the audience you want, then yeah, you should have gone that route. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time on a website like that. I'm not interested in boring niceties. Logging on to a website where 1000 people are forced to say the same types of things in the same tones or get banned... that really does sound like a hoot. I can't speak from the point of view of an administrator, but weeding through a few shitbags so that everyone else can interact freely is well worth the trouble if you're looking to create a stimulating environment to share ideas and opinions.

I have a favor to ask of you...
When someone deletes a user from their favorites list, could you make a way so we could see which user no longer wanted us there? Two users did this, and I can't remember all who were on my list of those whose favorite I was. Sometimes it's just that they accidnetally deleted everyone. Once someone deleted me who I remembered, and I messaged them and they were glad becuase they could not remember who was on their favorites list.

"You were delted by..."
would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Rebecca

hey there

entry #19. posted on 12:14pm Apr 07, 2008 - mood: happy

I actually have been making fixes and improvements.

first, check your user page address.
no more of the :
http://www.bestandworst.com/user/info/?tn=USERNAME

now you can type
http://www.bestandworst.com/user/USERNAME

I did it so that if you choose to keep your blog here, you can announce your user page more easily.

I also revamped/revived the adult ballots feature. Just go to your user page, and put your age (over 18 only please)

Discussion section is new. it works like a user groups at yahoo or msn, and I will be improving the scripts and offering its contents to other website to use. The idea is to build a cooperative database of large number of discussion on all types of topics, as an alternative to the big corporate websites.

On a personal note, I have been going to doctors and dentists that I have been delaying for a LONG time, and I have been feeling a lot better, I am not sure it's the drugs or my body repairing myself, I am not sure.

Thanks for all the people who's been helping me defend this site from the mentally ill, and all the helpful suggestions and ideas.

Why did you delete
the blog entries about your bus? It was interesting reading about your bus adventures/misadventures, I'm sure others liked reading them too.

It would be good if smilies worked on blog entries and to represent a person's mood.

Also, sending Aura via blog comments is not working.

next update will include private, invite only section blogs, which people can subscribe to, and it will work off your favorite user list.

I will invite you when that's ready, and I will be posting a frequent log of my adventures, stay tuned.

working on the aura problem. probably next week.

I hope I was not responsible for blocking those ballots...
If you mean freezing some, yes, I did that to about 5 or 6 or so because they were spam. From the same user. If memory serves, I think he or she called itself xxxxxxxxxx.

this is the test of blog 2.0

entry #11. posted on 3:28pm Mar 31, 2008 - mood: happy

since this is a ballot site, you can attach a ballot number to each blog, that you may be blogging about. you can leave it blank too.

You can also include an image, and position it either on the left, center, or right side of the blog. this may change/improve as I test it.

Sounds absolutely wonderful
My family used to live up in Mt Charleston when it was a hick place and very, very quiet. Now they've turned it into a resort area with casinos. It's ruined.

One thing--there is a new user (obviously not new, just new name) who is making junk ballots but he or she has no user page (nothing comes up) so cannot be frozen.
