title : Why is gas so damn expensive in the U.P.?

My car ran out of gas in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan recently. It was $4.35/gallon (Typical price in Ohio right now is $3.80 to $3.99)

I know Michigan is higher than us, but why do those poor Yoopers have to pay so much more than the residents of the Lower Peninsula? (It was $4.09 there.) It's not like they're in Hawaii...

No, I didn't really see both sides of town, because it was 1AM and I was on my way to St. Ignace.
