IS IT OK TO DOCTOR PHOTOS TO SLANDER SOMEONE IN A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN?

According to the Republican Party, yes, perfectly acceptable.

"Early in the 2000 presidential campaign season --when it was obvious that John Kerry was going to be the Democratic nominee -- Republican operatives began blanketing all media outlets with a photo that showed Senator Kerry and Jane Fonda sharing a speaker's platform at an anti-war rally.

The problem? You guessed it -- the photo was a fake and yet another attempt by conservatives to join Kerry with the Republican's most vilified female.

The picture was created by merging two different photographs taken at two completely different times and places." (Bob Geiger)

Now, since we all learned from Karl Rove that it is perfectly acceptable to knowingly over-exaggerate the facts to win more people over, is it acceptable for the Republican Party to intentionally slander John Kerry to win more people over to the noble cause of hating anyone who isn't a white, conservative male?

Yes, it's ok to use a little trickery, so long as people hate non-Republicans as a result
No, even Republicans should tell the truth
Democrats don't never lie
No party should be allowed to doctor photos

COMMENTS:
And you have the undisputable proof that "Republican operatives" began blanketing all media outlets with this photo? You say it, but is it a proven fact? Did the Republicans doctor the photo themselves? Were they aware it was a doctored photo?

Just a few questions I have.

It also wasn't one of the world's major news outlets who was doing this. It is still wrong though.

"noble cause of hating anyone who isn't a white, conservative male"

That is rather rich coming from you. A white person like yourself who constantly gay-baits and Jew-baits other users. Look in the mirror cranky.

^No, it was the Republican Party, so I guess in the minds of the neo-cons, that makes it okay.

And where is herzie? Shouldn't he be here shouting out his outrage about this? Or is it...neo-con hypocrisy?

Cracky never gives proof. (Well, except of his own fact-twisting parroted views.)

Voted : No, even Republicans should tell the truth
Are you sure your source is reliable? If it is true, then it is wrong.

Doesn't herzog have you on his ignored list? Maybe that's why he hasn't answered.

By the way, lying about someone opposing the Vietnam war does not make them look bad. It makes them look good. The Vietnam war was nonsense.

Socrates:

herzie and I have karma shields in place against one another, but that doesn't stop either of us from posting comments on the other's ballots.

And if you go to Salon, and the column called "the War Room" and look at the archives from last week, it links to the Bob Geiger blog, which put up not only the doctored photo, but the two originals, too.

The FACT remains that John Kerry dishonored himself by his actions following his tour in Vietnam, and cost some soldiers their lives.
