IS JOE LIEBERMAN GIVING THE REPUBLICANS A FREE SENATE SEAT?

[+] serious ballot by jappy
ACTIVE Wed Aug 09, 06 - Mon May 04, 09

Joe Lieberman is going to run as an independent in the general election following a stinging defeat in the primaries. Is this going to create a split in the vote, which is basically what happened in the 1992 presidential election when Ross Perot's candidacy handed the presidency to Bill Clinton rather than giving George Bush Sr. a second term?

Or is there not enough Republican support to give one conservative candidate the election over two Democrats?

Yes, this is probably going to cause the Republican candidate to win
No, a Democrat will still take this seat.
No, Lieberman will win

If Lieberman follow sthrough with this bid, to the end, I'd say it has an excellent chance of handing the seat to the GOP.

... which shows Lieberman is just another incumbent, out for himself.

No, the Republicans have a nobody running. They will probably mostly support Lieberman who they (and most moderates) would rather have in office than Lamont.

FF: Is that what you want to be the outcome or what you seriously believe the outcome to be.

I'd like the outcome to be a clear Lamont victory. But I am not going to delude myself.

I believe that unless Joementum drops his Independent bid, the seat will very likely go to a Republican.

Ingredients for GOP victory- take three candidates, add mud, stir liberally (figuratively *and* literally).
