COMMENTS:
thats funny, I have been giving some thought to the same sort of thing recently. I have no idea is my answer though Im afraid, but I shall watch this ballot with interest.
oh and I would hire someone to proofread my copies before sending it to them... I know I have terrible grammar/ punctuation errors.

Start arranging your words into columns for a start :o)
I'd say start with the free periodicals. I'm pretty sure that several of them might be interested in such a thing.
Have you tried writing a few and mailing them to the editors of various papers in your area? I'm sure that if they can find a spot they'll be more than happy to include a free article.
I think you have to start small, in a little paper, just write about something interesting, most small papers really do welcome someone who will do a truthful article even if it has a bit of the authors opinion in it, and I imagine you move up from there. You go from writing about the Cake Baking Club one week to exposing the local gym teacher as a drug dealer, and you will really be moving right along!!
