private : HOW DO YOU BECOME A COLUMN WRITER?

I would like to write newspaper columns.

I would like to offer my column at no charge to various newspapers and weeklies all over united states. It's a weekly column about stuff you can get free on the internet (samples and t0shirts, etc)

but I have no idea how to go about it.

who do I contact? how should I go about this?

I'd say start with the free periodicals. I'm pretty sure that several of them might be interested in such a thing.

Have you tried writing a few and mailing them to the editors of various papers in your area? I'm sure that if they can find a spot they'll be more than happy to include a free article.

I think you have to start small, in a little paper, just write about something interesting, most small papers really do welcome someone who will do a truthful article even if it has a bit of the authors opinion in it, and I imagine you move up from there.

You go from writing about the Cake Baking Club one week to exposing the local gym teacher as a drug dealer, and you will really be moving right along!!
