One night there was a wedding reception going on next door to the bar in this small town where I was hanging out with some friends from college. I decided I wanted some cake.

I went into the reception hall, had a whiskey sour, danced the dollar dance with the bride, told her I was the grooms second cousin, then I went over to get some cake, and THERE WAS NONE LEFT!! I was NOT happy.

I did eat a bunch of peanuts and those goofy little mints though. Then I got outta there before suspicions arose.

We stopped at a hotel, only to find they had 'reserved it' for a wedding party. Bother.

"Are you here for the wedding?" the guy asked.

"Why yes," I responded. "Yes, we are."

Well ... we were now. Free manhattans. But we tipped liberally.

Re. 'Reserved it' -- opps, meant to say they reserved the restuarant/ bar area, not the whole hotel.
