No I like my sleep I wouldn’t want to be woken up by some chain dragging above my room in the middle of the night.

I'm pretty sure my house is haunted. No big deal really. Cold gusts of air strong enough to slam doors when there is no wind, fans, air conditioning, and no doubt in summer when it averages 90+ degrees.

Yes, because no such thing exists.

I've lived in a few haunted houses. Prefer not to live in places like that, but it's no big deal if they're friendly. Mr Fiddle, you should get out more (^^) since you apparently don't realise that there's more to the world than just the side you see.

Fiddle I dare you to spend a night in one of the most haunted locations in the world (or at least America) and see what you think of haunted houses in the morning.

depends if it's a real phenomenon or purely psychological. i can guarantee you that you could sell someone any house, tell them it's haunted, and they'll see or hear something to confirm it. but that's not to say that there aren't real things that happen that we'd interpret as a haunting.

Including real hauntings.

We don't know enough about the world to say that a phenomena which can't be explained doesn't exist.

15 years ago, scientists were still dismissing ball lightning. 10 years ago they were still dismissing "angel fire" seen by airline pilots far above storms.

If ghosts are spirits then why aren't they naked?
by ClosetIguana on Sun Aug 13, 06 4:41pm [+]

Maybe because "spirits" aren't exactly what we assume that they are. I personally believe that ghosts are a kind of recorded event or memory, stored electromagnetically in the surroundings. But there may be many kinds.

"Including real hauntings."

absolutely, though there is insufficient evidence to support any conclusion, much less one jumped to based on outdated understandings (or misunderstandings) of the nature of the events.

one theory i've heard is that hauntings are sort of flashbacks, time echoes. the shadow of a past event.

My friend bought a house extremely cheap. She soon found out why it was so inexpensive. All night long, she could hear furniture move and someone sweeping, walking and crying. She often saw the image of an old, unhappy woman in the mirror. She said it was the most terrifying experience of her life and she moved out as soon as she could. All this stuff happened only upstairs. The first night she slept downstairs, she heard a trerrible crash. She went to her room and there was a huge roll of butcher paper like 2 feet wide on her bed and a hole in her ceiling. No hole in the roof of the house, and there had been no butcher paper in her attic before this. If she had not slept downstairs that night, she would have died. She yelled, "I don't know who you are, but I'm leaving and you can have this house back." At that moment, all paranormal activity stopped, and my friend moved out that day.
