European-american (it doesn't matter if they actually are american) is the prefered nomenclature.
so next Ethiopians (africans) are going to be white huh? They have straight nose and thin lips does that make them white too.
They do not have a straight nose, and they still have thicker lips than Europeans.
Also, they have MUCH darker skin, which to the best of my knowledge is actually biologically different from that of caucasians, and they have negroid hair, not caucasian.

Which Italians the blonde ones or the dark haired ones? If it suits you why not just refer to them as mediterranean just like some europeans are scandinavian, slavic and germanic. Does that suit your needs better? There are all kinds of ways to classify people including language. Italian is considered indo-european. By the way Indians (the ones from India) classify themselves as caucasian. You perseverate on skin tone, and skintone alone does is not a sole classification of a group of people. In general, European Caucasians are called "white". Now some Caucasians in the Near East and North Africa are indistinguishable from those in Southern Europe, but they're not normally considered white.
The finest civilization was born in Rome, so the white people certainly want to claim the Italians as their own. Toilets, baths and central heating were developed thousands of years ago in Italy. While the rest of Europe was still picking nits from their hair, Iyalians were luxuriating in spas. Call them what you will but civilized is what comes to my mind.

I have italian in my family, they are white, and don't call them otherwise or my favorite uncle will turn italian sausage out of you, and he sure can cook ;)
My father's family is from reggio amelia in the north of italy. We are tall, slender, light olive-skinned, green-eyed, and have facial and body structure of the european. Yet, I do believe that given Italy's locale, it makes sense that there has been mixing over the millenia. How could that be argued?

Im italian , and my family does not consider themselves white..we are of latin culture .
im 25% italian and 25% sicilian and i have black hair, brown eyes, and olive skin tone. i dont consider myself white more like multiracial with white and mediterranean islander.
see what is wrong with this question is you asking about their skin tone. people arent caucasian because fo their skin tone its of their ancestry. french portuguese spanish and italians are all dark yet they are caucasian. so just think about the nationality and forget about the skin tone..
