COMMENTS:
woo, ballot 100500, congrats B&W on another milestone!!
Some call it redirection when the non-answer points elsewhere. Some call that The Coward's Way Out.
Yeah, congrats.
IMO--It's like comparing the "devil we know" with the one we "don't know". We've become accustomed to the one. And, I'm not referring to individuals from either religion who don't equate their religion with their politics. It's hard for me to articulate exactly what I mean here; and, I'm sure my meaning will be misconstrued by more than one. I'm also not saying that the "Jesusian" Politicals are "more" or "less" evil than the "Mohammedan" Politicals; only that there appears to be a deceiver who has infiltrated both camps. From my own personal experience with God? He's not as interested in politics as He is in individuals; and, He's certainly not an insecure control freak simply "pretending" to be God. He has no "issue to force", and nothing to "prove." If He were, there would be no element of humanity's free will. Of course, this is all just my opinion.
And, I have to agree with the others. This is an awesome, thought provoking ballot. K and A forthcoming.
And, a little more to the question. Political Islamists are the only ones in the CURRENT conflicts whom I hear justifying their violence on the basis of their religion. The others are merely fighting because of a perceived attack on themselves.
It is part of the hypocrisy of leftists. While proclaiming to be in favor of women's rights, gay rights, etc; all these go out the window if some Muslims treat women or gays badly. They leap to Muslims defense. Of course, if some Christians or Jews did the same thing, they would be barraged with criticism. See, if herzog made a bunch of ballots pointing out the extremes of some Christians and Jews, he would be one of the highest rated users on this site.
Voted : No, Christians are just as bad as Muslim extremists in general and this is a good comparison
Guilty of doing so, and I won't be backing down from it. The danger we face here is not religion itself, but the fanatical abuse thereof.
Voted : Yes, this comparison is outlandish and serves no purpose
There can be no comparision made between Christian radicals and Islamic radicals because Christian radicals do not kill people. When was the last time you opened the newspaper and read about a Christian killing someone in the name of God?
I don't care if many muslims cheered the death of 3000 americans on september 11th, some christians don't believe in abortion or same-sex marriage, so there is no difference between the two.
Voted : Yes, this comparison is outlandish and serves no purpose
yes I do. Also the comparison of muslim mutants with the Northern Ireland conflict. IN that arena religions were always an excuse not a reason for the conflict.
Voted : Other, see comment
I tire of it, but I see it as a good comparison if you compare the heights of Christian religious extremism to the heights of Islamic religious extremism. IMO, modern Islamic extremism has resulted in many more deaths overall than modern Christian extremism.
