The NYT published an article yesterday by Michael R. Gordon, Mark Mazzetti and Thom Shanker about the increasing violence in Iraq in which one of the final paragraphs reads:

*“Senior administration officials have acknowledged to me that they are considering alternatives other than democracy,” said one military affairs expert who received an Iraq briefing at the White House last month and agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity."

Apparently White House officials refuse to admit that Civil War is reigning in Iraq. But what other forms of government do you think they would like to, umh, encourage?
