Imagine the world without a belief that actions here affect their place in the hereafter. Would that be a better place? You tell me.

I don't believe so.

Religion, when misused, is merely the vehicle for people who would act in such a way, regardless.

I believe that if there were no religion, we'd still have hatred, bigotry, warfare, oppression, etc. -- they'd just have to slap a different face/ rationale on it.

Plus, we'd lose that segment of the population who could be influenced by the positive aspects.

Just because you don't have religion doesn't mean that people would think for themselves, in its absence.

I think the world would operate pretty much as it is now.

Maybe without certain religions... things might be safer and better. I'm being too politically correct at the moment to say which ones. biggrin

Religion has benefited the humanity as much as it as hindered it. Removing it would do the same.

Instead of bringing up children(future adult ppl) with a FEAR-based religion,
we could bring them up based on INTELLECT of Civilization and Civilized Behaviour.
Same rules of behaviour basically, but without all the guilt, fear and threats of (spiritual)retaliation for bad/anti-social behaviour.
Religion is a PRIMITIVE Control Mechanism! We need to alter that.
