Apparently, Pluto no longer qualifies as a full-fledged planet in the solar system. It is now, along with one of its moon Charon and a few others, a dwarf planet.

IMO, it never qualified as a planet, but was given that designation before Kuiper Belt Objects were widely known. Creating a sub-category strikes me as the right response.
