COMMENTS:
You cannot defend freedom abroad by USurping it at home.
It's very easy over here to denounce a station that represents Hezbollah.
I'm not criticizing this ballot, I'm just telling you what the reasons are. And I'll tell you one more thing, most people in North America have an historical hatred of Arabs and anything Arab-related, even moreso than Jews.
I'm saying nothing!!
Anyone can listen to that terrorist station if they want to. There is this thing called the internet that kind of makes it possible. There is no "government effort" to stop it from being broadcasted. Where do you get such information? From Al-manar?
There's channels all over the world that people in the US can't pick up. I'm pretty certain that Al-Manar isnt the only one.
The American Government has taken steps to increase national security that may inhibit your freedom a little. But have you taken a look at other countries with tyrannical governments that deny their citizens basic civil rights? You should have bigger fish to fry right now.
Where is the freedom for women in most muslim nations Ayala? Why can't they walk in the street with out a male escort, wear what they like and express themselves the way they want to?So before you go talking about how America is not a free nation because she blocks one channel that spews propaganda for radical Islam why don't you fix your own problems. Moreover America has so much freedom that you can call for the overthrow of the government and not get arrested;can you do that in any muslim nation?Maybe Turkey but in most muslim nation you would be arrested or even killed.
Ayala, I can give you an excellent example of freedom where I reside in the west, but first I would like you to answer a few questions...if you are upto it. 1. If there were books and other materials published/distributed or made available in your (Middle East) country which promoted hate and advocated violence against Muslims and are blasphemous to Islam, would you agree that they should be banned? 2. Would you walk down the busiest steet in your country, wearing a shirt that says "Jesus is God! And the Trinity is the Truth." ? 3. Since an enormous mosque has now been built in Rome, the heart of Catholicism, would you advise or encourage the Pope to have a cathedral of a similar size be constructed in Mecca to bond and nurture ties between Catholicism and Islam, the world's most peaceful and tolerant religion?
