Voted : Prison
The person should be given the same punishment that anyone who committs assault on a person or attacks animals they should be given prison time.I know that some would want to put the criminal through the same punishment he put his victims through but than we would be no better than the criminal.
Prison, no question. People who abuse animals (which should be punished in its own right) stand a pretty good chance to abuse people later on. And adults who intentionally cause harm to children have forfeited their membership in the human race, string the bastards up.
Imprisoned, so as to keep them from further harming others, and therapy to deal with the "sick" part of being 'sick bastards.'
First they shouldn't be lumped together. A child has more value than ANY animal. Humans are more important than animals.
Anyone who tortures a weak and helpless being is a sick bastard. Regardless of what species he/she chooses to victimize.

I believe public stonings should be brought back. Tie the bastards to a tree and and stone them til they die.
Prison, as with any other crime.
A combination of involuntary psychiatric comittment, therapy (for however long it takes), and of course, research. We can learn alot from these sick people (i.e. what makes them do this in the first place, and hopefully a cure). Just throwing them into prison or outright execution or whatever makes no sense. The problem would still be present with that mode of treatment.
