There is the quick answer; but, apology smacks of admitting error. Who likes to do that? Least of all Washington types. Possibly because the real agenda of the Democrats was, understandably, to to attack the Presidential Administration itself. Rove and Libby are more insiders to this administration, and present more of a "smoking gun" to benefit the beforementioned agenda. THE REPUBLICANS WOULD, IMO, NO DOUBT HAVE DONE THE SAME UNDER A DEMOCRATIC ADMINISTRATION. Washington Politics. Plain and Simple. Yes, he's still connected to the administration; but, only by default, not as an "insider" to the President; hence, no smoking gun. And the career politicians in Washington (both sides of the aisle) have shown their true colors once again. None of them truly give a fig about Valerie Plame. She and her career are expendable; or, at best are put on a back burner for first priorities, like keeping or gaining more power. By the way the ballot is written, I assume you are a Republican; or, at least lean that way. Here's another question, "Why aren't Republican Congressmen expressing outrage and insisting on an apology from the Democrats?" Because they care more about their own careers than about Rove or Libby; and, Washington itself dropped the ball. Now it makes ALL of them look bad; and, when that happens in D.C. "issues" effectively become "non-issues" Just my opinion, however. Quick answer, Yeah, it's the decent thing to do, no matter what side you're on, and even if Rove and Libby are the biggest jerks on the planet. Falsely accusing anyone is wrong.

Because I don't believe a word that comes out of DC these days. Lie to me more than once, and I find it kinda hard to believe anything said to me.
I think they should apologise the same time that Rove and co do so.
If this is true they certainly should. They won't, of course, but they should. This will be filed under the 'well it was proven wrong, but it's still somehow true category' like the kid who claimed he was investigated by the CIA for checking out a book.
^Or, there really weren't weapons of mass destruction in Iraq...but the White House will still pretend that there were.
^Cranky: You ALWAYS seem to forget that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq after the USA invaded. Just none of the nuclear variety. However, caches of chemical and biological weapons have been located by allied forces almost from day 1 of the invasion.
