Yes. I used to be a staunch advocate of bicycle "rights" {I still am} until the "Critical Mass" bastards started clogging up the streets of San Francisco on the last Friday of every month. {I don't care about it that much anymore because I don't live in the city anymore}

So...after seeing the way these pricks acted I stopped advocating the same position.

No, but participating in them can lead to a better sense of empowerment and can reinforce the feeling that you aren't alone.

Yes, I saw a pro-Iraq War protest by a group of Young Rebublican neocons. After seeing their inspiring protest, I immediately began to support the war in Iraq and also dropped my plans to enlist in the military.

hahhaa! you oughta have a Protest Against Protests, it would be Perfect.. actually getting up and going outside to voice how strongly you feel against people having such strong feelings about anything!

I'm so glad you didn't stay away herzog, I appreciate you so much, seriously
by Jyl on Mon Aug 28, 06 7:58pm [+]

^so is that a yes or a no jyl? I don't know why you chose to take this ballot as a personal slight against you. It was simply a question I had, because I haven't heard of anyone actually changing their opinions after watching a protest. They either agree with the protestors and walk off or disagree and think they're acting foolish and walk off.
by herzog on Mon Aug 28, 06 8:37pm [+]

Fiddle: so you're saying protests are primarily serving the protestors?
by herzog on Mon Aug 28, 06 8:42pm [+]

"a personal slight against you"
??
I hadn't read it that way or responded that way.. why do you say that?
by Jyl on Mon Aug 28, 06 8:45pm [+]

^the blatant, snide, sarcastic comment you left.
by herzog on Tue Aug 29, 06 7:03am [+]

aw I'm sorry I busted out the blantant snideness, that almost never happens ;)
If you need to read it as taking "this ballot as a personal slight against" ME, then go ahead, if it helps you somehow. I'm weepin' buddy.
(I still think it was funny, Protests Against Protests..)

A lot of these so-called activists do more harm than good to their cause when they act like animals in the street and chant repetitive slogans.
