I say that, due to the pervasiveness of the modern media, there is more propaganda -- but it is less obvious and more subliminal, which in a way makes it more insidious.
There is about the same.
Of course during wwII the propaganda was in favor of the allies. Now the media is fabricating photos and stories to make the US look bad on a routine basis. Why? Who knows.
So propaganda of today is no more or less honest than that of the 40s, but it serves a much more insidious purpose.

Way, way less. Plus there is no censorship. Anyone and their brother can go access a news website in Pakistan, China or wherever the hell they want. Without the censorship, the effect of propaganda is somewhat limited.
More. Fox News is a rightwing propaganda network that functions as the media arm of the Republican Party. Before, the U.S. never had a news outlet that had, as its primary purpose, the mission of brainwashing the public by feeding it rightwing propaganda to generate support for its corrupt political agenda. Various media outlets have been better or worse, but this is the first time the U.S. has had a propaganda network with the intention of undermining democracy, destroying the American Constitution, and helping to make the U.S. into a one party state, run by America's fascistic rightwing.
