WHICH ECONOMIC SYSTEM HAS CAUSED HE MOST WARS IN HISTORY?

[+] serious ballot by Steelhamster

Capitalism and imperialism in my opinion, creates a schism that will always produce conflict. People want what other people have and will take it by force if necessary.

This started with early man making war on his neighbour for more territory and food and has continued unabated to present day.

Given these factors is it time for a change?

NB: It would be nice if for a change the same old rhetoric about the Soviet Union and China et al could be put aside, as neither of these systems were any close to socialism, but were in fact totalitarian governments calling itself socialism.

That said, no doubt some ill informed yahoo will disagree.

Capitalism
Imperialism
Socialism
Feudalism
Islamofacism

" Given these factors is it time for a change?"

Is this ANOTHER one of your leading ballots (which could be good otherwise) that states that since things suck (in your opinion) that everything would be wonderful and a land of milk and honey as long as we all tra la la la'd down the road of "true" communism?

Voted : Imperialism
Imperialism has caused the most wars in history. Most of the wars fought in the 18th,19th and 20th centuries were fought because of competition between rival imperial powers.

That being said Socialism/Marxism is utopian nonsense and it can not be realized.A government that is powerful and large enough to fulfill all it's citizens needs will always become despotic.
by Corrupt on Sun Sep 03, 06 12:36pm [+]

Imperialism. Which is as far away from capitalism as you can get.

After that socialism. Look at the various socialist regimes of the last hundred years: China, North Korea, the USSR, Nazi Germany, Italy under il Duce, and god knows how many communist rebels around the world stirring up trouble.

Capitalism is the free exchange of goods and services and a rate decided by both the sellar and buyer. This has led to no wars.

And you since you can deny that the soviets were communist can we likewise deny any exampe you come up with were neither capitalist nor imperialist?

It makes debates hard when one side is unwilling to call a duck a duck.
by herzog on Sun Sep 03, 06 12:49pm [+]

You cite the same old trite answer Herzog.

If capitalism is the great saviour of the world, why does poverty still exist?

On this matter I call a duck a duck.
by Steelhamster on Sun Sep 03, 06 8:34pm [+]

Poverty still exist in capitalist systems because capitalism is based on meritocracy and some people can not support themselves. Not all men have the same talents and therefore not all men should receive the same pay.
by Corrupt on Sun Sep 03, 06 9:06pm [+]

I dont like pointing out flaws, but we are NOT living in a meritocracy or the best and the brightest in the word would be running things.

Privilege and power is not something a child born into poverty in the third world is born with.

You seem to think poor people somehow deserve their fate.

Tsk tsk!
by Steelhamster on Sun Sep 03, 06 10:00pm [+]

Steel: compare the US to, say north korea. Which has more poverty? Obviously poverty will always exist, but the poor in capitalist nations are alot better off than the poor elsewhere. Where would you rather been in the bottom ten percent, the US or the egalitarian socialist regime of cuba?

You have yet to explain the much higher standard of living, especially among the rich but it affects all walks of life, in the capitalist west compared to non-capitalist nations.

Capitalism creates no wealth, so how is the US so rich? We stole it all from the indians? Hardly, they had nothing when we came here, if we lived off their plunder we'd have some teepees and stone axes. We stole it from other nations we've conquered? Bullshit, we spend more on any war than we get out of it.

Nope, we built our wealth out of what amounted to a barren wilderness all under the umbrella of free enterprise.

Explain away americas wealth, prove that our poor are worse off than the poor of communist nations, prove that communism hasn't always led to poverty and mass death, and I'll listen to you.

"Nope, we built our wealth out of what amounted to a barren wilderness all under the umbrella of free enterprise."

I know this has practically nothing to do with the ballot, but calling almost anywhere on Earth, including America, a barren waste is like calling a wedding cake a waffle.

More on topic, IMO, capitalism has probably caused the most wars, but I still think it is better than the other systems.
by himself809 on Mon Sep 04, 06 3:58am [+]

Misquoted you, sorry. Waste was supposed to be wilderness. My opinion's the same though.
by himself809 on Mon Sep 04, 06 3:59am [+]

Steel you're right a poor child is not born with power or wealth but in a capitalist nation they have an opportunity to change this.Just look at Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton they started at the bottom of the economic ladder and worked their way to the top.If that does not prove America and capitalism in general is based on meritocracy I don't know what does.
by Corrupt on Mon Sep 04, 06 11:52am [+]

It is as much of a meritocracy that it can be in an imperfect world.

Voted : Capitalism
It`s kinda difficult to say which of these systems have caused the most wars bc these systems are totally different in nature. Socialism inclines more to politics while it can be easilly combined with imperialism and imperialism can be as well combined with capitalism. Capitalism is more of a monetary system which isn`t necessarily interested in politics. I am not going to distinguish these anymore because i think it is obvious that these are totally different systems and reflect different kind of interests but capitalism is no doubt the biggest and its power combined with globalization is no doubt the greatest.
