Voted : I will rely on the press, such as it is, for war news
Apparently, the Bush Administration couldn't overtly do away with the free press in the U.S. (at least, not yet), so now they will use taxpayer's money to shout down the free press with a barrage of rightwing propaganda. George Bush...or George Orwell?
Both. The PR firm will be biased in favor of the administration, and the mainstream media has shown that they're willing to lie to make the US and Israel look bad. So maybe they will cancel each other out. So far this PR firm hasn't been caught completely fabricating evidence out of thin air, if only the mainstream media could say the same . . .
Actually that should be 'I'll rely on neither' not both.
Voted : I will rely on neither.
although the press, IMO, will be a more reliable source than a PR firm that's paid to say what ever this scandalous administration wants them to. The press will be more likely to cater to everyone... rather than a PR Firm whose sole purpose is to sell one side to a select group.

I see no difference between what a PR firm would do compared to what corporate media is doing right now over here. Nobody in this hemisphere is getting any of the fierce debate among Israelis that is going on in Israel. We've been duped into believing that all Israelis are behind the action in Lebanon. It's not true.
I'm not aware of a war in recent history where information wasn't managed in some way. From my read of the article it appears they want to highlight particular activities such as successful ones by Iraqi forces. The regular press is still there covering only the terrorist attacks and kidnappings, I'm sure we won't miss much of that.
I just heard that this new government agency will be called "Fox News 2." "So far this PR firm hasn't been caught completely fabricating evidence out of thin air, if only the mainstream media could say the same . . ." Untrue. Actually, the mainstream media CAN say that. The only major institution, so far, that has been caught, knowingly, fabricating evidence out of thin air is the Bush Administration. The squealings of the neocons demonstrates how much these rightwing extremists hate freedom of speech and freedom of the press. What kind of idiot would think that our sources of information would be better if controlled by the Bush Administration? Tin foil hats or cowboy hats? Or tinfoil cowboy hats?
"So far this PR firm hasn't been caught completely fabricating evidence out of thin air." That's only because the agency hasn't come into existence, yet.
Voted : I will rely on neither.
For actual news of how combat is proceeding, I'll rely on the people I know on the ground there.
herz: Both?!? How amusing, assuming that the errors in one will offset the perceived errors in the other. But then again ... that's how we get Sunday political talk shows, isn't it.
Cath: I corrected that in the next comment with "neither". I can't trust one biased newssource out to serve their unscrupulous master, fabricating evidence when it the facts don't support their cause, and this new one they're talking about creating doesn't sound so great either. It's sad, our media was once respectable and maintained some interest in printing the truth. Now they'd rather stage photos for terrorists.
