COMMENTS:
LCD, I didn't see that you had just put up an almost identical ballot. I scanned when I should have read more carefully.

Really too bad. He had a great deal of knowledge and was always very entertaining.

I can't say that I'm shocked he was always putting himself in harm's way.At least he died doing what he loved.

He was just a guy who enjoyed what he was doing, and had a wife to support him and his dream. Seemed like a cool guy to me. I loved his show. He will be missed.

I genuinely feel sad for this extremely likeable person, who developed a multi-million dollar foundation for the preservation of wildlife, and who had an overwhelmingly positive value system.

Unfortunately, he was also an adrenaline addict, and that probably led to his death.

He wrestled crocodiles for a living and ended up getting killed by a fish. Maybe he got too confident.

At the risk of sounding nasty, I thought that it would be a gator that got him.

Pity.

I wouldn't say he was a great scientist, but he seemed like a genuinely decent person who was simply doing something he loved (and making a mint doing it). He did some stupid stunts, but who hasn't?

Too bad.

And a stingray? I did not see that coming.

I saw him more as someone who brought "the wild" to the eyes of lots of people all over the world, not really as a scientist, though he probably could be called one. Either way, he was a cool guy.

I am very sad for his family. While they won't need money, Their young children need their father. It doesn't suprise me that he got killed though, since he risks his life for a living. But on the other hand, it was shocking because I got used to him coming close to death and surviving; almost as if he was daring to be invincible. It was shocking to see someone who survived the most dangerous circumstances, to be taken out by a stingray (How do you survive poisonous snakes and crocodiles, which kill thousands a year, but fall victim to a stingray which have killed only 17 people since 1969)
