Voted : If Steve Irwin was here, he'd say leave the rays alone!
same happens to mountain lions, Brown Bears, dogs, etc. etc. There was a woman who was attacked by a mountain lion in California. They hunted down the animal, and killed it, only to find that she had 2 cubs she was protecting. ironically, the subsequent fundraising made more money for the cubs than the woman's children.

Quite possibly. I doubt there will be any organized effort, but people out scuba diving will be more likely to shoot at stingrays when they come near. They're no more dangerous today than they were last week, and they're still only responsible for a trivial amount of deaths, but that's the way people work.
' ironically, the subsequent fundraising made more money for the cubs than the woman's children.' That's kind of fucked up, it shows a completely skewed set of priorities.

I thought of this yesterday too, that someone's just bound to kill some rays over this freak accident.

Stingray barbs will probably become a popular item in jewelry!

Voted : Only Ignorant fools would do such a thing.
Those ignorant fools were the same ones who went on a shark killing rampage following the movie "Jaws", even though people are rarely attacked, and less often killed by sharks.
I'm not sure about killing them, but I imagine that the debarbing that is already practiced in some beaches will increase.
