We seem to be heading towards a kind of segregation in this world, fear propagated by those who wish to push a war agenda, makes people wary.

We are now in the position of not even knowing our next door neighbours, and community seems on the verge of meltdown.

The need to self protect is a strong one, but fencing yourself in is only going to exacerbate an ever more insular society.

Privacy, keep out stray animals, keep in pets, to clearly define what is yours and what isn't.

Security also, although few home fences I've seen would be up to the task.

In Latin America, because of the soaring crime rate, most houses have either high fences (like the one in the picture) or high walls with barbed or electric wire on top. I hope it never gets that bad here in the States.
