Shames and alarms.

Shame me? No. Alarming and pathetic, yes.

This reminds of an incident that I was told happened to my Grandparents. My grandfather had a good friend in the armed forces during WWII. While in Germany (I assume there), his friend acquired a large 6x4 Nazi (swastika) flag, and sent it to my Grandpa as a souvenier. Many years later (during the late sixties), my now more elderly and absentminded grandmother was doing some spring cleaning in the basement. She was cleaning out an old linen trunk, from which everything was musty smelling. She decided to wash everything from the trunk, including the Nazi flag, then without thinking she hung everything outside on the line to dry! A few hours later the police were knocking at the door. Apparently a number of neighbors and some passer-by people had phoned the police to complain, obviously having been offended. The police were understanding of the incident, and their coming to he door was only about giving good advice. My Grandpa, who had be oblivious to what Grandma had done, was so embarassed and ashamed that he lit a fire and burned the flag immediately!
Why should I have a problem with the swastika?

No, because I am not connected to this display. People do many mindless things I do not agree with, but I am shamed only by my own actions, or those I sanction.
I find it disturbing that ignorance still reigns when we should be living in enlightened times in the 21st century.

Very much so. It shames the country as well.
I wouldn't say that it shames me, it certainly reflects badly on those doing it, and it's a disgrace. If they insist on flying the swastika it should be flown by itself, both out decency and historical accuracy. It makes no sense to fly it next to the flag of a nation that helped destroy nazism.
It doesnt shame me because those who display the swastika flag next to my country's flag are a very small minority. And they do it for attention. I look at more as being childish than shamefull. If they want to show their ignorance, let them. We all know (or at least most of us do) that they're in know way representive of the opinions of the majority.

We spent thousands of young lives to be rid of such.
a swastika next to a canadian flag would just be funny.
