Don't force me to prove it.

The "world" begins within us; we can change that world. The "world" is our home lives; we can change that world. The "world" is our work life; we can change that world. The "world" is our political lives; we can change this with our contributions and votes (yes, each vote adds to the total). We change the world every moment we live. Even choosing to be discouraged and not attempt change makes a difference in the world. Did you know that by simply wiggling your finger that you change the arrangement of matter in the entire universe? You do. It is obviously miniscule, but you do change/effect the whole universe with your movement. So, no I do not feel powerless, and no one should.

My lovely story for Friday: :) For the past few years I thought I helped something somehow by cutting the amount of Stuff I use and throw away. And I've sorted the things I did have to throw out, pulling packages apart and looking for the recycling number stamped on them, so many cups and bottles that less than a decade ago would Not have been thrown away. But this morning I've learned that here in Arlington VA (as modern a city as any I though) they aren't recycling a lot of the trash that's manufactured with the recycling number on it. Not only are our recycling pick-up people not taking it anywhere to be recycled but there isn't even a drop-off place where we can drive these things, I mean in case we decide that's it worth starting the car and burning up the gas to get this trash to the right place! haha! ! :p Oh I'm prouder than ever today, prouder than ever!! The future's looking so bright.

Not powerless! Margaret123 has good points. And, yes, recycling is not easy, but in our area, (fairly small town, too), it isn't all that difficult to find receptacles; do your recycling on your errand run. Recycling is about more than saving money.
I've talked today with two offices in the big modern city of Arlington that told me there's nowhere in the county to take some of my trash to be recycled, they kinda laughed at how excited I got over the recycling numbers someone bothered to put on this stuff! Yep I'm prouder than ever, doin my little part to help the beautiful future :)

Change comes when the political process is democratic, unfortunately, the last two US elections showed us that. Makes some third world countries look enlightened.

Not now that I read your inspiring message!
I feel completely powerless to change the world. One of my favourite songs is "Going Underground" by "The Jam" whose lyrics encapsulate the rage and frustration many caring people feel when they look at the world and its leaders.
