Effective: Increase brand awareness, eventually increase sales

Yes! The female body attracts both gender! Very effective!
Yes! Men are lustful creatures! This will sure grab their attention!
Yes! Females will want to model their bodies to match those being advertised!
No! Men are sexier! We should use more sexy men in advertisements!
No! There are other methods of successful advertising instead of "sex sells"
depending on the target audience, this may backfire because marketing should not just appeal to men.

I only care about where my moneys going. If it is a crap item but they have a almost nude person will that make me buy it? Hell no and if they have to do that is the product really that good in the first place?

Certainly it is effective advertising because it grabs the attention of the consumer.When you see an ad with a woman in a string bikini you're telling me you don't look?

Voted : depending on the target audience, this may backfire because marketing should not just appeal to men.
All advertisements are targeted to a specific market. If you are targeting the average "bubba" male, you use scantily clad women. If you are targeting women, you portray men as adolescents who need a woman to help them survive in the world. And so on.
